Hello! Thank you for your interest in applying to The Drama League's First Stage Rehearsal Space Residency Program.
The Drama League understands that cost effective space is at a minimum in New York City. We have, therefore, designed this residency for directors at the very beginning of a new project, for initial exploration or investigation of an idea, concept, and/or early pages for a new play, musical, performance piece, or devised work.
The piece should not have been previously workshopped or developed elsewhere and should be near the beginning of its creative journey.
The FIRST STAGE RESIDENCY includes:
REHEARSAL SPACE: 10 hours for rehearsal and experimentation in the Stewart F. Lane/Bonnie Comley Studio Lab at The Drama League Theater Center in Tribeca. PLEASE NOTE: First Stage is for rehearsal and meeting space only and is not intended for ANY public showings. First Stage is not open for public or invited readings, workshops, or showings. It is to be used as a lab for a director and their collaborators.
